Bringing learning outside the walls of the school allows for wondrous and memorable real life experiences in so many areas of study.
Our community offers many rich and wonderful opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom. Field trips complement and enrich classroom learning at all age levels.
Our teachers are very creative in finding locations for effective enrichment of their units of inquiry. Field trip venues around the GTA include:
- A mosque, a church, a temple and a synagogue
- AGO
- Camp Kandalore
- Crawford Lake Conservation Area
- High Park
- Japanese Cultural Centre
- Kortright Centre
- Young People’s Theatre
- McMichael Gallery
- Ontario Science Centre
- Pioneer Village
- Queen’s Park
- ROM
- Sunnybrook Park
- Toronto Brickworks
- Brock University Science Camp
- Dagmar Ski Hill
In order to ensure safety, the children travel in buses and parents are invited to accompany the trips, providing optimal adult-student ratios. These field trips also provide opportunities for parents to contribute to the class experience.
An exciting part of Grade 5 and 6 is a 3-day overnight experience at Camp Kandalore. Our grade 6 class takes a graduating trip to Science Camp at Brock University in the Spring of their final year.
