All parents of Sunnybrook students are members of the Sunnybrook Parents’ Association (SPA) – it is a truly parent run association which provides parents the opportunity to become involved and learn more about what’s happening at SBS, to help enhance the school experience for our kids, and to contribute to the school community and the community around us.
For over thirty years, SPA fundraising proceeds have supported the arts, athletics and the classrooms at Sunnybrook. The SPA has provided playground equipment, Library resources, smartboards, and sports gear, brought in authors and musicians for the children’s enrichment, and supported well-being with anti-bullying sessions. The SPA also strives to facilitate interaction between parents and the school administration, for example by hosting the Welcome Back Social for parents and staff at the start of the school year. The SPA’s efforts also go toward community building through social gatherings such as organizing the ever-popular Fun Fair and through opportunities to give back such as sponsoring a family during the holidays.
We welcome and encourage everyone’s participation in the SPA, whether it is through attendance at SPA meetings, social events, or by volunteering time and effort in school or for our fundraising activities. You don’t need to make a big commitment to make a big difference for our school community!
