Through the IB program, students learn to identify and demonstrate their understanding of global issues, make responsible decisions, and take appropriate action in response to the issue either locally, nationally or internationally. We provide global based activities linked to the IB learner profile, reflective questions, field trips and discussions of current events to better understand the world around us. Our students become aware of global issues and learn their role and responsibility in addressing them. At an age appropriate level, they take action to, for example, help our environment and advocate for social justice issues.
Part of being global aware is to build a value system that is flexible and open to other cultures. It recognises and respects that there can be more than one way to do something, and actively supports and promotes diversity. Sunnybrook acknowledges and respects the diversity of cultures in our community, and we learn about each other’s celebrations and values. Inclusion, equity, and diversity is an integral part of Sunnybrook and our way of life and learning.
