Before School Care
Sunnybrook School opens at 8:00 am daily. Children in JK and SK can enter the school and spend the time until 8:30 am in their studios where various activities will be available for exploration.
Students in GR 1-6 proceed directly to the playground for outdoor play between 8:00-8:30 am. From Tuesdays to Fridays students also have the option of participating in House Games in the gym. Students must arrive promptly before 8:05 am to be permitted to join in this activity.
After School Care
Sunnybrook School has a tradition of providing a relaxed, friendly environment for students whose families require a longer day. After Care is offered daily between 4:00 and 5:30 pm. Families may choose to enrol in aftercare for the entire school year if required, however it can also be utilized on an occasional basis. Parents must inform the office and the student’s teacher if they will be attending After Care and the family will be invoiced for that day.
JK and SK
After Care for this age group is a peaceful time of the day which begins in the JK or SK room, including ʻtea timeʼ (snack) and a story. The school provides a healthy snack during this time. The students then join the older students on the playground and have the opportunity during this special time to interact with students in the older grades.
Grades 1 – 6
After Care begins on the playground at 4:00 pm. During the Fall and Spring, students in the After Care Program will remain on the playground until 5:30 pm, weather permitting. During inclement weather conditions the students will come inside to the French Studio on the lower level. In the winter, Grades 1 – 6 begin on the playground until 4:30 pm when they come indoors.
Homework Studio
Students who stay in after care can meet in the library on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:50 to 4:30 pm. Our teacher-librarian supervises and assists where needed during homework studio, while fostering a nurturing environment for students working independently.
