Orange Shirt Day

Today our students discussed the importance of Orange Shirt Day and why “Every Child Matters.” They will reflect on Canada’s history, in an age-appropriate way. Our SBS students in Grades 3–6 will be participating in the Moose Hide Campaign as part of our school’s recognition of Orange Shirt Day and Canada’s ongoing journey of Truth and Reconciliation.

The Moose Hide Campaign is a grassroots movement that started in British Columbia and has now grown across Canada. It encourages conversations about ending harm to women and children and spark conversations about reconciling the effects of Residential Schools. Wearing a small square of moose hide is a symbol of taking a stand for kindness, respect, and safety for all.
