Congratulations to Nyle in GR 2 who won the SSAF cross country meet for boys under 8. We received the SSAF banner and will be hung proudly in the gym!

SBS teaches through inquiry and in every classroom inquiry is visible! Grade 5’s are making scribble machines, the Grade 6’s are completing original research for their exhibition project and the Grade 4’s are researching into the body systems.
Wear your sweater and conserve energy
SBS turned down the heat to conserve energy and staff and students wore sweaters to keep warm. As part of an Ecoschool initiative, the Green team raised awareness and donated funds to the World Wildlife Fund.
Students host action for BellTalk Day
Two Grade 6 students hosted a hot chocolate stand this week to promote awareness for Bell Let’s Talk Day and donated over $350 which will be donated to -Canadian Mental Health Association (Bell Talk) to raise awareness for mental health.
Skating Fun
As part of the Phys Ed curriculum, the GR 1-3 students go skating at the Leaside Arena. They have fun playing games, learning to skate and being part of the community.,
Sunnybrook has HEART!
Thank you to the SBS community for your generosity this holiday season. 112 toys were donated to Toy Mountain and 20 boxes of food donation went to the Thorncliffe Food Bank. It is so wonderful to see the spirit of giving!
Winter Concert
Our “100 years of Holiday Music” concert was a huge success! Songs were sung throughout the decades and wowed the audience with their beautiful singing and many dance moves!
Movie Night at SBS
Students arrived to SBS in the pajamas on Friday evening for Movie Night. Together they watched “Zootopia” and had pizza, popcorn and treats. This is a community event held by our Parent Association – thank you parents!
SBS participated at Model UN
Our Grade 5 and 6 students competed at the Junior Model UN and together they claimed 13 medals. We are so impressed with how the speakers were focused and debated their positions clearly and effectively.
Student Action for Charity
A Grade 6 student sold bracelets, scrunchies, book marks and magnets before school hours to raise money for the War Child Organization.
